The Missouri State Highway Patrol is investigating a deadly shooting involving a police officer.It happened near 8th and Carlisle around 11:20 p.m. Wednesday. Dispatch says the call came in for a person shooting inside a home in the area with a rifle.When officers got to the scene, the person started shooting at them. One Independence police officer was shot in the head and transported to the hospital. MSHP said at the time that he was conscious and in stable condition. The suspect was taken to the hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. He has been identified as 35-year-old Independence resident Aaron C. Pouche. MSHP says the initial call came after neighbors started arguing. A rifle has been recovered from the scene. Independence police said later Thursday morning that the officer has been released from the hospital.
