KANSAS CITY, Mo. — At least one person has died and four are recovering from injuries after gunfire erupted overnight in Kansas City, Missouri, authorities said.
According to KCTV and KSHB, the incident occurred shortly after 10 p.m. local time Sunday at the 18th and Vine District. Kansas City police said a dispute at an area business escalated, leading to a shooting outside, the news outlets reported.
Authorities said one person was killed and three people were rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment of wounds that were not considered life-threatening, according to KCTV. Another person broke a leg while fleeing the scene, police said.
No one has been arrested in connection with the shooting, KCTV reported. No further information was immediately available.
Mayor Quinton Lucas took to Twitter late Sunday to call for an end to gun violence.
“Disappointed and angered to hear of more Kansas Citians struck by gunfire tonight,” Lucas tweeted. “This evening it’s in my neighborhood, but too many have been impacted just this weekend, this year, and in recent years. Praying for the victims, continuing to work to see an end to this epidemic.”
